The following are errata from my recent (2000) Cambridge University
Press book A Computational Theory of Writing Systems. Some of
these I thought were corrected at the page proof stage, but for
whatever reason did not make it into the final version:
Axiom 1.3 on page 15 should read:
if alpha Overlaps beta then gamma(alpha, beta) =
gamma(alpha) . gamma(beta) (Mark-Jan Nederhof)
(This is a pretty serious typo, since as it reads in the book, the
formula makes no sense.)
Page 55, example 2.13. The phonemic gloss "ntrw" should have an
underbar under the /t/. (Mark-Jan Nederhof)
Page 172, page 172, first paragraph,
penultimate line, "graphically dissimilar but homographic characters"
should of course read "graphically dissimilar but homophonic
characters". (Viola Voss)
